2 things they rely on discrediting the source or beating up on the straw man.

it seems that this has been a tactic that the jw's have used for many years.. i haven't contributed to this board in a wee while but upon my return a month or so ago, i was astounded to read about the article where the society described opposers as 'mentally diseased'.. it's a very basic strategy and one that works.. i myself experienced this with my wife during my more vocal periods of opposition to the society.
for a good while i had a problem with drink.
not a violent problem or anything, just that i drank more.

hello, i'm new to posting here, although i have been reading and gaining insight for quite a while.
thank you to all of you.. i wrote a letter of disassociation this week, and sent it to the local kh.
i have been faded for a number of years, and after much research, know that the witnesses do not have the truth.
Welcome and congrats on your awakening!
As for your friend you must understand...she responded the way SHE WAS PROGRAMMED to respond.
Understand that it is a powerful conditioning that the JW's undergo. Look at yourself, you said after being faded and your own research you were able to come to these conclusions, now imagine dropping that info on someone who is unsuspecting and not open to criticle thinking against the WTS.
I know for me it took 2 yrs of being out before I could type in 'Jehovah's witnesses' into a search engine and look at the results with out feeling guilty.
Once again congrats on your awakening, but understand that you cant drop bombshells on people who dont even realized they are asleep and ensnared.
i've been in lurkmode lately, but with the news that i heard about don cornelius dying, it had me thinking...as this world goes on, and people are coping with this world...i think a lot jw's are going to realize that the end of the world isnt coming...there gonna become more despert, the realities of having to work, pay off debts, etc.
a lot of jw's are going to realize that no magical sky daddy is come and 'take away there problems' and i think the more that they start to realize this, they get older, and there gonna start hating the reality that they have to face.
i had a good friend who's father-in- law (who was a ministrial servant) who had bipolar disorder, killed himself in his car back in 2007. it was sad.
One sad experience I had was when my mother (about 79/80 at the time) Lamented 'I may as well die I have nothing to look forward to.'
This was a women who spent most of her time in the 'truth' as a regular pioneer and who had brought enough people to baptism to fill a congrgation. Her fervent hope was to see ' the end of this system' as most JW's of her generation. It was sad to see the truth dawn upon her in her twilight.
IMO in your later years hopefully you will have reconciled your past and be at peace with your mortality, but to at the end recognize time spent in vain is truly a tradgedy.
But though Death searched for the third brother for many years, he was never able to find him. It was only when he had attained a great age that the youngest brother finally took off the Cloak of Invisibility and gave it to his son. And than he greeted Death as an old friend, and went with him gladly, and as equals, they departed this life.
my apologies if this video has already been posted at some point in the past.
only recently did i become aware of this particular video.
the opinions of the author are expressed in a way that was new to me.
Good video follows and well illustrate the points here

topgodapexspiritual persons (eg paul)middleatheists, agnostics, secularistsbottomreligionists (eg saul)seemingly in scripture the only persons jesus repeatedly tore into were the religionists (pharisees and sanhedrin or governing body).
it seems he gave the romans (secularists) scant attention, and chose to eat with the likes of prostitutes and presumably also lgbt persons..

he always tells me that i've adopted him as a father...we're pretty close.
i spoke with him asking for some advice about whether or not to pursue my degree.he, to my surprise, couldn't give me his opinion.he told me that if he tells me how he really feels (he says he has some strong views on the matter) he may be disciplined for 'promoting higher education'....in effect he was telling me to go ahead and pursue my degree but not really saying it.
he asked me to promise him that i'll speak to the presiding overseer and the circuit overseer....i haven't as yet.
Enjoy college it is a great experience. Goofy story I got a premo job at Bethel BECAUSE i had a college degree (associates) and advance training (mechanics)
being the society is anti-hypnosis, i know very little about it.
but from what i've observed it often involves willing participants focusing their concentration, usually involving repetition, until the subject is in a state where suggestions can be implanted in their mind.
bite can involve hypnosis, but in many instances it may not.
i'm on page 90 right now...the info is definitely new and gives me a totally diff view as to how i used to think of faithful and discreet slave.
i was thoroughly disgusted with the way the brothers handled the oral sex and leadership problem and the insight on the scriptures book...... still have alot of questions though.

Interesting
The book really doesn't get good until after page 100. Fasten your seat belt. (The first 100 pages reads like an Awake! magazine life story.)
I never got past the 1st 10-20 pages BECAUSE it reminded me of a GB life story (which it is) But I may jump to Page 100 and try to read it again.
